Overview

DigiLocker is flagship initiative of Ministry of Electronics & IT under Digital India Programme. DigiLocker aims to digitally empower the citizens of India by providing access to authentic digital documents to citizen's digital document wallet. The issued documents in DigiLocker system are deemed to at par with original physical documents as per Rule 9A of the Information Technology (Preservation & Retention of information by intermediaries providing digital locker facilities) Rules, 2016, notified on February 8, 2017 vide G.S.R.711(E).

On Android

  • First of all Install the DigiLocker application on your android device.
  • Open the App to see the welcome sceen, where you can click on Get Started Button to Sign Up .

    which opens to the page consisting of Sign-in option to your DigiLocker account( for existing user accounts ). In case you are new to DigiLocker system and/or intend to create new user DigiLocker account there is a Create account option right below the Sign-in button to do so.

    How to create new account ?

    For new DigiLocker system account creation the only prerequisites you will be required to possess is an Aadhar.
    The Sign-in page looks like the figure shown below which prompts you to input :

    < The Details filled should be strictly according to aadhar Details . Assign a safe 6-Digit Security PIN and note it down somewhere for future convenience.
    After Submission of the form you will be further required to input a 6-Digit long OTP sent to your Aadhar Linked Mobile Number. In case you have updated the mobile number linked with the Aadhar and the mobile number currently displayed is different , you can use the Update mobile number option to change the currently displayed number to updated number.

    After OTP Verification ,the system will prompt you to input a DigiLocker Account Username, which will complete the registration process and you will be able to see the homepage , from where you can start didgitalising your certificates and records. The username must be unique and minimum 8 charcters long .
